New unit!

Today we started the new unit what is programming. I have been looking forward for this unit because I enjoy programming and I've always wanted to improve my skills. I started learning Python in school however I did not progress that much with it. We have also changed our tutor for this unit. We now have John who is a funny person and a good teacher.

We started off looking at a site what is a nice entry level for coding. It was a maze game where you had to program the angry bird to get to the pig. The layout of the programming was like Scratch because you drag in the code. It makes it quite simple and easy however if you look at the code it is more confusing.

The programming language we will be using is Small Basic. I have heard of Small Basic however I have never used it. When I first saw Small Basic, it looked quite basic (hence the name). I like Small Basic because it offers lots of help when writing your code. It automatically predicts what you might be typing so you can quickly write the code.

We had a go at Small Basic with a number of tutorials. One tutorial was counting up from 0 to 100. It was quite interesting because I never knew you could right 0-100 in a few lines of code. We also had to organize a program code to make it more readable. One of the things I changed was putting spaces in it so I could split up all the code into blocks. This does not effect the code what is helpful so it can look nice while running fine.

Overall I have enjoyed the first day of programming and I can't wait to learn more different things you can do in Small Basic. Programming can be very helpful and you can do so much in a few lines of code. The bigger programs most likely use more lines of code because there is lots of different parts to certain programs such as word.
