Front cover designing!

We started off today with a talk from Catherine about what we can do after Develop. One of the options is going to university but I'm not sure about that yet. Next Friday we are going to a university open day to see what it is like. Catherine did this talk now so we could think about our future options we can take.

After that we started to learn about the front covers on games. The front covers normally are split into three parts. The top or middle is normally where the logo goes because that's where we look first and how we read. Also the 1st and 2nd sectors sometimes have the main character so we know who we are playing as. The 3rd sector is usually where the game info goes and the producer goes.

Then we got to start to design the front covers for our own games. Here is my cover what is nearly finished:
The background was royalty free so we had to manipulate it. I changed the brightness and contrast of the picture so my main character stands out. I tested out some of the effects I can add to the font and overall I am pretty happy with it. We started just before lunch and finished at 2.

After we came back from lunch we watched a video about Comic Sans MS (Adams favorite font). This was about how bad it is and how it shouldn't be used for a designing point of view. I found this quite interesting and it has shown me how I should not pick that font.

Overall I am happy with the front cover I made today. Tomorrow I will finish off my design log and finish off my front cover at home.
